My favourite storytellers create whole worlds for their characters to live in. They know the protagonist’s shoe size, the antagonist’s favourite dessert, and the interior contents of the supporting character’s garden shed. And while the reader may not know these details, it’s precisely these pieces that shape the narrative, and provide depth to what will certainly be a compelling story.
This is how I approach my design work. As a visual storyteller, I enjoy uncovering the backstory, and using those details to create meaningful work. Whether it be a logo, a museum exhibition, or a magazine spread, there is always a story to tell.
